BILATERAL AGREEMENTS

The Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and the Government of the Russian Federation (named below jointly as "the Parties" and separately as " the Party "):
Considering economic relations as an important and necessary element in the strengthening of bilateral relations;
Being convinced that the development of bilateral economic co-operation will further the improvement of the prosperity of the peoples of each country;
Expressing confidence that the widening of economic co-operation between the Parties and the peoples of each country including direct contacts between Russian organisations, companies and citizens and British organisations, companies and citizens (hereinafter referred to as " nationals and legal persons ") will be an important step on the path towards the integration of the Russian Federation in the world economic system;
Desiring to establish a basis for economic co-operation between the two countries;
Confirming their wish to develop economic co-operation in accordance with the principles and provisions of the Helsinki Final Act (August 1975), the Paris Charter for a New Europe (November 1990), the Helsinki Document of 1992 and with the other documents of the Conference on Security and Co-operation in Europe and in accordance with the Document of the Bonn Conference on Economic Co-operation in Europe (March-April 1990), with the European Energy Charter (December 1991) and with the Joint Declaration of the Russian Federation and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland "Partnership in the 1990s ";
Have agreed as follows: The Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and the Government of the Russian Federation;
Acting in the interests of the further development of mutually beneficial friendly relations between the two States;
Seeking to improve the reliability and security of telephonic communications between 10 Downing Street in London and the Kremlin in Moscow;
Have agreed as follows: The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and the Russian Federation;
Recalling the friendship over centuries between the peoples of the United Kingdom and Russia and reflecting the wishes of their peoples to enhance this friendship;
Stressing the fundamental significance of the historic changes resulting from the end of the era of ideological and military confrontation in Europe;
Guided by the aims and principles of the United Nations Charter , the provisions of the Final Act of the CSCE, the Paris Charter for a new Europe and other CSCE documents;
In the spirit of new partnership and co-operation exemplified by the joint declaration by the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and the Russian Federation signed in London on 30 January 1992;
Have agreed as follows: Правительство Союза Советских Социалистических Республик и Правительство Соединенного Королевства Великобритании и Северной Ирландии,
Учитывая принципы и положения Заключительного акта Совещания по безопасности и сотрудничеству в Европе от 1 августа 1975 года и Итогового документа Венской встречи представителей государств - участников СБСЕ от 15 января 1989 года,
Действуя в интересах дальнейшего развития взаимовыгодных дружественных отношений между обоими государствами,
Желая внести в порядок выдачи виз своим гражданам некоторые добавления и разъяснения,
Достигли договоренности о нижеследующем: The Praesidium of the Supreme Soviet of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics and Her Majesty The Queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and of Her other Realms and Territories, Head of the Commonwealth ;
Desiring to join in strengthening the ties of friendship between their respective countries; Wishing to regulate their relations in the consular field and thus to facilitate the protection of their respective national interests and the rights and interests of their respective nationals ; Have decided to conclude a Consular Convention.
